HEIC in, JPEG out β without the cloud
iPhone photos shoot in HEIC, but forms, old software and the web still want JPEG. Most converters upload your photo to do it. This one decodes HEIC inside your browser (via an on-demand WASM decoder that only loads when you drop a HEIC) and re-encodes locally. See HEIC vs JPEG for when each format wins.
What "quality 80" actually means
JPEG and WebP throw away detail your eyes won't miss. Around quality 80, files shrink ~50-70% with no visible difference β drag the handle and try to spot it. Below 60, skies band and text fringes. For images with transparency or text screenshots, PNG stays lossless but big; WebP is usually the better deal. Compressing lots of camera-roll screenshots one by one is slow, though β for bulk, see deleting screenshots in bulk.
The output contains no metadata
Re-encoding keeps pixels only: no EXIF, no GPS, no camera info. That's a privacy feature for sharing β and exactly why you should check what's inside an original before you strip it, and keep a backup of anything irreplaceable (backup guide).
